George Howe was a Latin professor and classical scholar; A. B., Princeton, 1897; Ph.D., University of Halle, 1905; studied at the AmericanClassical School at Rome, 1912-1913. The collection includes notebooks of Howe,professor of Latin at the University of North Carolina, including a diary Howe keptwhile attending Princeton, 1894-1895; notes he took while attending lectures at theUniversity of Halle in Germany, 1901-1903; and notes he took while studying in Rome,1912-1913, on sabbatical.
